Caló des Moro

Caló des Moro is probably Mallorca's most photographed cove – and only about 30 metres long. If you really want to enjoy it, come before 8:30 am or after 6 pm. Sheltered from northerly and westerly winds.

THE WIND DECIDES

When is Caló des Moro at its best?

On Mallorca, the wind decides which beach has calm water. Caló des Moro opens to the southeast.

Checking where the wind's coming from today …

calm rather choppy side-on

Rule of thumb based on how the cove faces. On site, flags and lifeguards have the final word.

„I got there at 7:45 am. A photographer was already there. He said he more or less lives here.“

What to expect at Caló des Moro

Rock walls, pines, water in colours that really shouldn't exist: Caló des Moro became famous through social media. The problem: the beach is tiny.

According to the municipality of Santanyí, on peak days in 2024 more than 4,000 people and 1,200 cars came. From around 11 am there's no room left. Our advice: early or late – or in the off-season.

The path takes 15 to 30 minutes, uneven and steep in places. The cove opens to the southeast and is well sheltered from northerly and westerly winds.
