On Mallorca, the wind decides which beach has calm water. Platja de Formentor opens to the south into the Bay of Pollença.

What to expect at Platja de Formentor

Around 840 metres of pale sand, pines behind, the Bay of Pollença in front. Formentor looks like a painting – and that's exactly why it gets busy in summer.

The beach opens to the south. When the Tramuntana is howling in the north and Cala Sant Vicenç has waves, Formentor is often as smooth as glass.

Important for getting there: between mid-May and mid-October, daytime access is regulated – you only get in while there are free parking spaces. It's more relaxed by bus 334 or by boat from Port de Pollença.

By car only while parking spaces are free (season 15 May – 18 October, 10 am–10 pm). More relaxed: TIB bus 334 or the boat from Port de Pollença.

Usually, yes. The beach opens to the south into the Bay of Pollença and is often calm when the Tramuntana blows.
