WOW BEACH GUIDE · SÜDEN

Cala Pi

Cala Pi is a narrow, fjord-like cove in the south – small, bright, crystal clear and, thanks to its shape, sheltered from almost every wind. 147 steps lead down. Your ace in the hole when there are waves everywhere else.

THE WIND DECIDES

When is Cala Pi at its best?

On Mallorca, the wind decides which beach has calm water. Cala Pi fjord-like, opens to the south.

calm rather choppy side-on

Rule of thumb based on how the cove faces. On site, flags and lifeguards have the final word.

„147 steps down. I counted them. On the way back up, I stopped counting.“

What to expect at Cala Pi

Cala Pi isn't a cove you stumble upon by chance. From the little village, 147 stone steps lead down between the rocks – and then, suddenly, there it is.

The cove is around 420 metres deep and has a bend: from the beach you can't see the open sea. That's exactly why the water is almost always calm. Only heavy swell from the south gets in.

Up above stands the Torre de Cala Pi, a 17th-century watchtower against pirates. If you're snorkelling, swim along the rock walls.
