Cala Varques

Cala Varques is an undeveloped natural cove on the east coast: white sand, turquoise water, caves – and not a single kiosk. Reachable only on foot in 20 to 40 minutes. Usually calm with westerly and northwesterly winds.

THE WIND DECIDES

When is Cala Varques at its best?

On Mallorca, the wind decides which beach has calm water. Cala Varques opens to the east.

Checking where the wind's coming from today …

calm rather choppy side-on

Rule of thumb based on how the cove faces. On site, flags and lifeguards have the final word.

„I packed food for three hours. I ate it after 40 minutes. On principle.“

What to expect at Cala Varques

No road, no hotel, no beach bar. Cala Varques lies in the protected area of the Cales Verges de Manacor and has stayed exactly the way you picture Mallorca on postcards.

The path follows a dirt track through pine forest, partly along a dry stream bed. Bring sturdy shoes, water and shade – there's nothing on site.

The rocks have caves and a natural rock arch. The cove opens to the east: with a Llevant, waves roll in; with westerly and northwesterly winds it's usually calm.
