Cala Mondragó
Cala Mondragó lies in the Mondragó Nature Park on the east coast: two sandy coves, shallow water, pines behind. Ideal for families – and usually calm with northerly and westerly winds.
THE WIND DECIDES
When is Cala Mondragó at its best?
On Mallorca, the wind decides which beach has calm water. Cala Mondragó opens to the east and southeast.
Checking where the wind's coming from today …
calm rather choppy side-on
Rule of thumb based on how the cove faces. On site, flags and lifeguards have the final word.
„Two beaches five minutes apart. I still couldn't decide for half an hour.“

What to expect at Cala Mondragó
Two beaches, one nature park: Font de n'Alis and S'Amarador are just a few minutes apart and linked by a coastal path.
The sand is pale, the entry shallow, the water usually calm. The area has been protected since 1992 – there's hardly any development, but there are five signposted hiking trails.
The coves open to the east and southeast. With a Llevant or Xaloc it gets rougher; when the Tramuntana blows they're a safe bet.
