Cala Sant Vicenç

Cala Sant Vicenç isn't one beach – it's four little coves in one village in the north, with sand, clear water and a rocky backdrop. Perfect with southerly and westerly winds; when the Tramuntana blows from the north, head south instead.

THE WIND DECIDES

When is Cala Sant Vicenç at its best?

On Mallorca, the wind decides which beach has calm water. Cala Sant Vicenç opens to the north and northeast.

calm rather choppy side-on

Rule of thumb based on how the cove faces. On site, flags and lifeguards have the final word.

„I couldn't decide. So I went to all four coves. One after the other. With breaks.“

What to expect at Cala Sant Vicenç

You park, walk a few minutes and take your pick: Cala Molins, the biggest cove, Cala Barques with its old boathouses, Cala Clara for snorkelling and Cala Carbó for anyone who likes it quiet.

The water is usually crystal clear, and the entry at Molins and Barques is shallow – good for families. Restaurants, showers and, in summer, lifeguards are right there.

The coves open to the north and northeast. Which means: with a northerly wind, waves roll in. Then Formentor, on the other side of the peninsula, is the better idea.
