Children need three things on holiday: water, space, and parents who aren't stressed. A finca can provide all three. If you pay attention to the right little details beforehand.
Because the most beautiful finca in the photos isn't automatically the best one for families. A spectacular infinity pool on a cliffside, a steep staircase to the beach, or a property with no fence near a country road – that looks fantastic on Instagram, but feels very different on the spot with a three-year-old. Here is our checklist.
1. The pool: Most important place, most important question
In a family holiday, the pool becomes the living room. That's why a closer look is worth it:
- Children's pool or shallow entry? A Roman staircase or a separate children's pool makes a huge difference for little ones. The Finca Rotana and the Finca Son Lluny have their own children's pool, and the Grandina holiday home has a children's pool.
- Visible from the house? An ideal pool is one you can keep an eye on from the terrace and kitchen.
- Fence or cover? Ask if there is a security measure – or plan for supervision accordingly.
- Salt water or chlorine-free? Often more pleasant for sensitive children's skin. Several of our fincas have salt-water or chlorine-free pools.
By the way, you don't have to lug life jackets, a baby float with a UV canopy, or pool toys in your suitcase. You can get them from us directly to your finca.
2. Bedrooms: Who sleeps where – and how far away?
With a baby or toddler, you want to be close by. With teenagers, perhaps not. Therefore, pay attention not just to the number of bedrooms, but to their layout: Are there two rooms next to each other? A twin room for siblings? A bedroom on the ground floor for the grandparents? And – very importantly when multiple families are traveling – enough bathrooms so there’s no bottleneck in the morning.
3. Location: How far is it to the beach and the supermarket?
With children, it's not the straight-line distance that counts, but the journey. A ten-minute drive to a sandy beach is relaxing. A gorgeous cove with 150 steps is more of a workout with a buggy, cooler bag, and pool inflatable. For families with small children, long, flat sandy beaches like those in the north around Alcúdia or in the south around Es Trenc are often the easiest choice. More on this in the article Where to go on holiday in Mallorca?
4. Space to run around – inside and outside
A large property is worth its weight in gold with children. A playground is worth even more. And for rainy days or the midday heat, game rooms, table tennis, or foosball tables help. The Finca Palma Papa has its own game room with billiards and foosball, while Rotana and Son Lluny have a playground.
5. Baby equipment: Don't bring it. Rent it on site.
Stroller, travel cot, high chair, car seat, baby monitor, bottle warmer – families often feel like they are traveling with half a nursery. Many fincas have a baby cot and a high chair, but rarely everything. At WOW FINCA, you can rent the complete baby and child equipment in Mallorca: from child seats and buggies to Tonieboxes and LEGO DUPLO, to a PlayStation for the older ones. Everything will be waiting at the finca upon your arrival. By the way, we have collected beaches and excursions for families in Holiday with children in Mallorca.
6. The fridge upon arrival
Arriving with tired children, and the first thing you have to do is go to the supermarket? It doesn't have to be that way. Via the WOW MART, you can pre-order fruit, vegetables, and basics – the fridge will be full before you even unpack your suitcases.
7. Multiple generations? Then privacy counts
Holidays with grandma, grandpa, aunts, and cousins are nicer – and louder. Fincas with separate living areas or annexes are ideal in those cases. The Grandina holiday home has two completely separate living areas with their own kitchens, and the Villa Azul has a separate annex. And if you want two families under two roofs, book the Cecilio holiday home and the neighboring house Cayo together.
The family checklist at a glance
- Children's pool or shallow pool entry, pool visible from the house
- Bedrooms sensibly distributed, enough bathrooms
- Sandy beach and supermarket within a short drive
- Garden, playground, or game room
- Baby equipment organized in advance
- Fridge stocked upon arrival

Frequently asked questions about fincas with children in Mallorca
Which region in Mallorca is best with children?
For families with small children, the north around Alcúdia and Playa de Muro, as well as the south around Es Trenc, are particularly practical: long sandy beaches with shallow entry. Fincas in the center of the island are usually quieter and cheaper per person.
Do fincas in Mallorca have baby cots?
Many fincas have a baby cot and a high chair. If you need more – stroller, car seat, travel cot, baby monitor – you can rent it in advance at WOW FINCA and have it delivered directly to your finca.
What should you look for in a pool?
A shallow entry or children's pool, visual contact from the house, and – depending on the age of the children – safety measures. Life jackets and pool toys can be rented in Mallorca.
What finca size is sensible for two families?
For two families with two children each, houses for 8 to 10 people are ideal – with at least four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Even more relaxed are two neighboring houses or separate living areas.
