Traveling to Mallorca with a baby and toddler: What you don't need to pack

If you are traveling with a baby or toddler, you aren't packing. You are moving. With diapers, wet wipes, a travel cot, a buggy, a high chair substitute, and that sinking feeling that you've forgotten something anyway.

We know the feeling. And we have good news: you can leave most of that luggage at home. In Mallorca, there are diapers. There is baby food, wet wipes, and children's shampoo. And there is us – we source all of this and place it in your finca before you arrive. Here is the list of things you don't need to pack.

Diapers: the biggest piece of luggage that doesn't have to be

Do the math: two weeks of vacation, one baby, six to eight diapers a day. That's not a suitcase, that's a wall. Yet, you can get diapers in Mallorca in all common sizes, from newborns to toddlers over 17 kilos, in small packs and bulk packs.

Our tip: Order a pack in the size your child is currently wearing for the first few days, and a pack one size larger. Children grow amazingly fast on vacation, especially when they sleep a lot and eat well. You can find diapers in our category Baby: Diapers, Care & Food.

Wet wipes, shampoo, toothpaste

The second category of luggage you can confidently cross off: toiletries. In our assortment, you will find:

• Children's shampoo and shower gel for kids – supplies for the bathtub after the pool

Baby food and snacks for little ones

Jars and pouches are heavy and do not belong in your carry-on. When ordering, please pay attention to the age recommendation for each product.

It is best to bring special infant formula yourself, as the brand your child knows matters here. The big things: rent instead of hauling

Now for the part that really saves you luggage space. A travel cot, a high chair, or a stroller won't fit in any suitcase and often incurs an extra fee at the airport. With us, you can rent these items and have them delivered directly to your finca:

Everyday life with children in a finca

A vacation home is ideal for families: your own pool, your own garden, no neighbors commenting on the crying at the next table during breakfast. However, a finca doesn't have a hotel reception that can pull a pack of diapers out of storage at 11 p.m. Our advice, therefore: order a little more than you think you need for the first few days. Experience shows that wet wipes run out faster than at home due to sunscreen, sand, and popsicles. What you should pack anyway

To keep this list honest, here is the opposite – things you are better off bringing yourself:

• Medications and anything your pediatrician has recommended
• Their favorite stuffed animal. There is no substitute. We have tried.
• The infant formula you use, if your baby still drinks from a bottle
• Enough change of clothes for the journey – anyone who flies with a toddler knows why
