Porto Cristo insider tips

900 meters until some peace and quiet.

Cala Petita is located just about a kilometer outside of Porto Cristo and yet feels pleasantly far away. After a walk of about 900 meters, a tiny natural cove awaits with rocks, clear water, and about 20 meters of beach. No sun loungers, no bar, no parking right in front. Simply the sea. That is exactly why we like it.

Why it's a hidden gem

  • only about 1 km from Porto Cristo
  • approx. 900 m walk from the edge of town
  • tiny, natural cove
  • only about 20 m of beach
  • no infrastructure, no sun loungers, no beach bar
  • great for swimming and snorkeling
Directions

Used to be pirates. Today, quite a good view.

The old watchtower is located directly south above Porto Cristo and dates back to 1577. In the past, it was used to keep a lookout for enemy ships and to signal danger with smoke or fire. Today, you can look out over the harbor entrance, the cliffs, and the open sea. It is hard to get a closer look at history than this while in Porto Cristo.

Why it's a hidden gem

  • directly above Porto Cristo
  • watchtower from 1577
  • views of the coast and harbor entrance
  • part of the old Mallorcan warning system against pirates
  • a quick detour rather than a half-day excursion
How do I get there?

"When the road gets worse and the reception does too, things usually turn out well."
